Monday, two days ago, was a big day in this life of mine. I had my annual visit to my surgeon oncologist, the great Dr. David McCready at The Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. It was in that little examination room on the […]
GOGOPINK is a fashion-forward lifestyle brand. It raises money through consumer purchases for breakthrough breast cancer research by some of the most brilliant and cited scientists at the best cancer research centres in the world.
GOGOPINK will be in retail stores across Canada, the U.S. and Mexico starting in the Fall of 2015. Soon we’ll let you know the names of our vendors and what items they’ll be carrying year-round. We’ll keep you updated in mainstream media as well as on our website and Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.
100 % of the GOGOPINK net profit from royalties goes directly to the research lab. We are mainly run by volunteers with exceptional business and creative experience. Our company does not have six-figure salaries, extravagant expense accounts or huge overhead.
A few years ago, as EVP of a successful licensing agency, my job was to make sure that the brands created by movie studios, TV shows, celebrities, internet, publishing and design were successful in the consumer goods marketplace. Suddenly, I had to add another job to my resume: The job of staying alive. I was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer. I promptly began this new job of survival, which started with surgery, chemo and radiation.
So, I thought: What if I could take my job of creating a successful brand and combine it with my new job of survival – or beating breast cancer? This is how GOGOPINK was born. I created a brand that would raise money for cutting- edge breast cancer research by some of the most brilliant scientists at the best cancer research centres in the world.
Of course, I have a very personal interest in making this brand a success. Not only am I a survivor, but my sister was also diagnosed with breast cancer a few years after me. Even more, I have some very important clients. My clients are the 1 in 8 women who will be told that they have breast cancer – as well as the family and friends who love and support them.
We will not “pinkwash” (sell products to raise funds in order to beat breast cancer but which may also contribute to the disease). For example, products that contain hormone disrupting chemicals like BPA, flame retardants or parabens, to name a few.
We will use every cent we earn with great efficiency to ensure that as much money as possible is sent to our researchers. In addition, we will answer any of your questions regarding the use of funds.
We want you to love our products in addition to loving the fact that you can do good by buying them. Our Director of Creative and Product Design is the award-winning, trend savvy fashion encyclopedia Cindy Phillips.
Our products are fashion-forward and of excellent value, whether you’re buying our mass, mid-tier or premium/luxury products. There’s something for everyone’s budget. Every sale helps to fund research into beating breast cancer. We ask for a 10 % royalty on the wholesale price from our manufacturing partners. 100 % of the net profit goes to some of the world’s best research dream teams.
Tell your friends about our products and the GOGOPINK message and follow us on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. Through GOGOPINK’s social media updates you’ll find out about our new products, where to buy them, healthy lifestyle tips, clinical studies, breakthroughs and many other informative breast cancer topics.
Hope’s greatest ally is in research breakthroughs. We desire a day when we completely understand the contributing factors to breast cancer and may prevent the majority of them from developing. We envision a day when there are targeted therapies which search and destroy only cancer cells, leaving healthy tissue alone. We dream of harnessing the body’s own immune system as a way to kill cancer. We see a day when all stages and subtypes of breast cancer are treatable. Hope is alive.
We will be funding the work of Dr. Tak Mak and Dr. Pam Ohashi’s brilliant teams, the best from all over the world, at The Campbell Family Cancer Research Institute at The Princess Margaret Cancer Centre in Toronto, Canada.
Dr. Mak and Dr. Ohashi are Co-Directors of the Institute and are two of the most elite researchers in the world.
Dr. Tak Mak’s Canadian team is working with one of the most cited and ground breaking scientists in the world – Dr. Dennis Slamon, who is director of the Revlon/UCLA Women’s Cancer Research Program at JCCC. He is also chief of the Division of Hematology/Oncology and executive vice chair of research for UCLA’s Department of Medicine. Through this partnership, a new and exciting drug to battle not only breast cancer, but several other cancers has recently been cleared for clinical trials.
Veronica Van Rooyen, a 47-year-old executive vice-president at G Squared Licensing and Branding in Toronto, is a breast cancer survivor and fundraising volunteer at Princess Margaret Hospital. “Sure, it could benefit me, […]
